Why I started my own Blog

Recently I watched an Ali Abdaal video about him talking why everyone should have his own website and I thought fuck this I am doing this now. I have been thinking about starting my own Blog for a while after watching Ali Abdaals Video about how writing online changed his life, but I was not commited enough actually starting one. Now I am sitting here writing my first blog post and I feel glad that I made this step.
Not gonna lie I had my second thougts doing this. I mostly struggled with the question what other people would think about me starting a blog until I heard about the spotlight effect, which basically says that it feels like everybody arround is judging us for the stuff we do, but actually nobody cares about you, because they are way to concerned about their own life.
Futher more I struggled with the thought not having anything to write about. I asked myself the questions "Why would anyone wanna read my articles ?" and "What makes me suitable writing about this topic, while their are people out there with much more knowledge than me?" Then I came to the realisation, that when I can get one person to read my blog article and I can teach him one thing, that actually adds value to his life, I have achieved everything I wanted. I do not know what my blog post next week will be about and I know that my first blog posts wont be good, but I am commited to writing an article every sunday and I will write about whatever comes to my mind.
Until this point of the article I only talked about the reasons, why I did not start my blog earlier, but I have not really talked about the actual reasons why I started it now in this very moment. The main reason is that it sounded fun to start a blog and I defnitly can make the time right now to write a blog article every week. In addition it creates more randomness in my life and it increases the possibilty of meeting new people online. It is not very likely that someone will go on my website by accident, but maybe one of my friends or family, who reads this blog one day will tell someone about it, which creates the potential of meeting someone new.
To wrap this article up I am going to talk about a reason to start a blog or some sort of website, which I came across just recenltly. The job market is in an era of change and online presence is increasing in importance when it comes to job interviews. Application videos and social media presence are common tools at job interviews and will increase in importance in the future. So it could be very likely that I or you get to answer the question, if you have your own website at your next job interview. So if you can refer them to your website, where you created articles or other creative input, that you are actually interested in, it gives the job interviewer or anynone, who is curious about your personal interests, a good overview about yourself.
I hope you found some intresting bits and bobs in this article and maybe I even motivated you to create your own website.
Here is the link of Alis Video which I followed to create my own website:
